KUIU’s quest for the finest ingredients led us to Nuyarn by the Merino Company in New Zealand, where they take their wool remarkably seriously. Nuyarn is not a new fabric, it’s a new way of making fabric. Traditional ring spun yarn twists the life out of yarn. Nuyarn doesn’t.

 

Classic yarns twist fibers together for strength, which leaves ends poking out. Nuyarn takes the twist out, and instead lays fibers along the same orientation as the rest of the yarn, so fabrics feel less prickly and more comfortable yet become stronger. The unique yarn orientation creates more loft while significantly reducing weight. Nuyarn lower-density fabrics let lighter-weight garments outperform heavier traditional ring spun garments. KUIU’s ULTRA Mernio 210 mid-weight base 

layers are a balance of warmth, weight and durability, with each piece designed to be worn over our other ULTRA Merino collections as a second layer in colder conditions or against your skin in milder weather. The unique ULTRA Merino 210 base layer fabric knits ULTRA Merino wool on the outer layer of the fabric, and polyester fabric on inside, allowing for a soft brushed fleece against the skin while maintaining all of the natural benefits of wool.
